The situation

Arizona Courts Breach Copies 1.3 Million Records

A cyberattack copied 1.3M records via a third-party platform exposure; rapid impact observed.

NewsAPI Cyber Insights reports a cyberattack on Arizona’s court system copied personal data for approximately 1.3 million people after a court employee clicked a malicious link. The incident exposed ~30,000 protected orders and ~150,000 foster‑care records and attackers accessed a backup server within two hours.

Context

This breach underscores that user phishing plus accessible backup infrastructure or third‑party services can produce large data loss in under hours; organizations with public‑facing backups, vendor integrations, or shared cloud storage are highest risk. Expect similar rapid exfiltration where single‑user access can reach backups or third‑party comms platforms.

“Today's stories show active exploitation (Atlassian, FortiGate), mass compromise of exposed AI servers, and third‑party breach scenarios compounding risk.”
From the analysis
The move

5 things to do today

  1. Patch or isolate Atlassian Data Center instances now to remediate CVE-2026-21589; block external access to Data Center management interfaces and hunt for unexpected web‑root file reads.
  2. Apply SonicWall SMA1000 hotfixes for CVE-2026-102255 and restart appliances per vendor guidance; schedule emergency maintenance for affected builds (12.4.3 / 12.5.0 series).
  3. Rotate credentials and enforce MFA on FortiGate management planes; audit and remove unknown admin accounts and report incidents to law enforcement as recommended for FortiBleed victims.
  4. Isolate exposed AI endpoints (LiteLLM, Ollama, Gotenberg, Gitea) from the internet, patch CVE-2026-42271 and CVE-2026-48710, and hunt for XMRig/Iron miner processes and abnormal outbound traffic on ports 3000/4000.
  5. Validate backup access controls and recent backup restores immediately; review who can access backups and restrict or segment backup systems to prevent rapid exfiltration like the Arizona breach.

FortiBleed Campaign Ongoing: Mass FortiGate Compromise and Admin Lockouts

SOCRadar reports ~86,644 compromised FortiGate devices with attackers creating accounts and locking admins out; remediation may require hands‑on recovery beyond patching. Rotate credentials, audit and remove unauthorized admin accounts, implement MFA on management planes, and report incidents to authorities per FBI/USSS guidance.
